Coming from a background in both literature and psychology, Oslo-based photographer Frode Olsen is in love with the emotional and poetic qualities and possibilities of the medium. Believing the photograph to be more like a poem or a musical piece than a simple snapshot in time, he draws as much inspiration from cinema, music and imagist poetry as from his favorite photographers Saul Leiter, Irving Penn and William Eggleston.
In his work, Frode often explores the way mood and subtle connotations generate emotions and meaning, and how this relates to the viewer and their life narrative.
